The Purdown BT Tower is a tall structure used for sending and receiving signals. It stands 70.1 metres (230 feet) high. This tower was built in 1970. You can find it on a hill called Purdown. This hill is just north of the city centre of Bristol, England. It is in the Lockleaze area.
The tower is a very noticeable building in Bristol. Many people can see it from different parts of the city. Bristol City Council even calls it a "Valued Landmark." Its main job is to send signals from one point to another using microwaves. It is part of a big network of towers owned by British Telecom. This tower is special because it is one of only a few communication towers made from strong, reinforced concrete.
