Putina is a town located in the southern part of Peru. It is the main town, or capital, of the San Antonio de Putina area. This province is part of the larger Puno Region.
The name "Putina" comes from the Quechua language. In Quechua, "Putina" means boiling water.
This town has a long history. It was officially founded a very long time ago, on May 24, 1595.
