Pyletown is a small, unincorporated community located in the southwestern part of Stoddard County, Missouri in the U.S. state of Missouri. An unincorporated community means it's a place with a common identity but without its own local government. It's found about six miles southwest of the town of Dexter, Missouri.

A Look Back: Pyletown's History

Pyletown used to be known simply as "Pyle." The community got its name from a local businessman named J. K. Pyle. In 1895, a post office was opened in Pyle, helping people send and receive mail. This post office served the community for about ten years, closing its doors in 1905.

Where is Pyletown?

This community is situated right on Missouri Route H, which is a road that helps people travel through the area. If you go about five miles west of Pyletown, you'll find Otter Lake. This lake is part of the Otter Slough Conservation Area, a special place where nature is protected and people can enjoy the outdoors.
