Pádraig Ó Céidigh, born on January 2, 1957, is an Irish businessman and former politician. He is known for owning the airline Aer Arann. He also served as a Senator in Ireland's parliament from 2016 to 2020.

Early Life and Education
Pádraig Ó Céidigh grew up in Connemara, County Galway, Ireland. He went to University College Galway. In 1978, he earned a degree in business.
First Jobs
After college, Pádraig worked as an accountant. He then became a teacher at Coláiste Iognáid. Later, he studied law and started his own law firm.
Building an Airline Business
Pádraig Ó Céidigh became well-known for his work in the airline industry. He helped grow a small airline into a bigger one.
Taking Over Aer Arann
In 1994, Pádraig Ó Céidigh bought Aer Arann with a partner. Aer Arann was a regional airline. This means it flew shorter routes between cities. He worked hard to make the airline successful.
Selling the Airlines
In the 2010s, Aer Arann was bought by another company. It then became known as Stobart Air. Pádraig Ó Céidigh sold his other airline, Aer Arann Islands, in 2020. This airline served the Aran Islands.
Political Career
Pádraig Ó Céidigh also served in the Irish government. He was a member of the Seanad Éireann, which is like a senate.
Becoming a Senator
In 2016, Pádraig Ó Céidigh tried to become a Senator. He ran for a seat representing the National University of Ireland. He did not win this election. However, the Taoiseach (Ireland's Prime Minister), Enda Kenny, chose him to be a Senator. He became a Senator on May 11, 2016.
Role in Government
As a Senator, Pádraig Ó Céidigh helped make laws for Ireland. He served in the 25th Seanad until 2020. Before becoming a Senator, he was on the board of RTÉ. RTÉ is Ireland's national broadcaster.
Presidential Election Bid
In March 2018, Pádraig Ó Céidigh said he might run for President of Ireland. He planned to run as an independent candidate. However, he later decided not to stand in the election. Michael D. Higgins was the President at that time.
