Qian Kuan (born around 835 – died May 16, 895) was an important person in ancient China. He was the father of a powerful leader named Qian Liu. Qian Liu later started his own kingdom called Wuyue. Qian Kuan was also known by his courtesy name, Hongdao.

Who Was Qian Kuan?
Qian Kuan lived during a time when China was changing a lot. He was born around the year 835. He passed away on May 16, 895. His home was in a place called Lin'an, which was part of Hang Prefecture in the Tang dynasty.
His Family and Legacy
Qian Kuan had several children. His most famous son was Qian Liu. Qian Liu grew up to be a very strong military leader. He became so powerful that he founded the Wuyue kingdom. This kingdom was an important part of Chinese history. It existed during a period known as the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms.
Discovering Qian Kuan's Tomb
Qian Kuan's burial place was found many years later. In October 1978, his tomb was discovered. It was in Xishu Village, which is in modern Lin'an City. This area is not far from where his wife, Lady Shuiqiu, was buried. Her tomb was found two years after his.
What We Learned from the Tomb
Even though Qian Kuan's tomb was very old, it survived many events. It was found to have been disturbed at some point in history. However, finding his tomb helped people learn more about him. It also helped us understand the history of his family and the time he lived in.
