A Look Back in Time: History of Qiemo
People have lived in the Qiemo area for a very, very long time. Near the town, archaeologists have found an ancient cemetery that is at least 3,500 years old. This shows that communities thrived here thousands of years ago. You can also find old rock carvings from the Bronze Age. This was a time when people started using bronze to make tools and weapons.
Long ago, Qiemo was an important stop on a famous trade route. This route went all the way to Tibet. Traders would travel through Qiemo carrying goods. Even the famous explorer Marco Polo is believed to have passed through the town in the year 1273. His journey helped connect different parts of the world.
