Quest for Zhu is an exciting animated adventure movie from 2011. It was the first full-length film based on the popular Zhu Zhu Pets toys. This movie was released straight to DVD on September 27, 2011. It later aired on Nickelodeon on December 4, 2011. The film features the voices of talented actors like Mariah Wilkerson, Shannon Chan-Kent, and Ian James Corlett.
The Story of Zhu
The movie follows a brave little hamster named Pipsqueak. She gets accidentally swept away to a faraway part of the Zhuniverse. To find her way back, Pipsqueak starts a big adventure.
She teams up with her friends: Mr. Squiggles, Chunk, and Num Nums. Together, they face many challenges and obstacles. Their main goal is to find a wise leader named Zhu Fu. They also need to defeat the evil Mazhula.
Meet the Characters!
Here are some of the main characters you'll meet in Quest for Zhu:
- Mariah Wilkerson voices Katie, who is Pipsqueak's owner.
- Shannon Chan-Kent voices Pipsqueak, the main character. She is a brave and adventurous hamster.
- Ian Corlett voices Mr. Squiggles, one of Pipsqueak's friends. He also voices Stinker and Zhuquasha, a large mountain beast.
- Sean Campbell voices Chunk, another one of Pipsqueak's hamster friends.
- Erin Mathews voices Num Nums, a friend of Pipsqueak, and Surfer.
- Jillian Michaels voices Jilly, a supporting Zhu hamster who is a cheer leader.
- Jan Rabson voices Zhu Fu, the wise ruler of Zhu. He was overthrown by Mazhula. Jan also voices Mangawanga, a smaller tribal Zhu character.
- Kathleen Barr voices Mazhula, the main villain of the story.
Awards and Recognition
In 2011, Quest for Zhu was nominated for a Golden Reel Award. This award recognized its excellent sound editing in the "Non-Theatrical Animation Long Form" category.
