The Quilters' Guild Museum Collection was a special museum in York, England. It was the first museum in Britain just for British quilt making and textile arts. A quilt is a warm bed covering made from layers of fabric stitched together.
The museum opened on June 7, 2008, at St Anthony's Hall. It closed its doors on October 31, 2015. The museum was created and run by the Quilters' Guild of the British Isles.
The Quilters' Guild is a group for people who make quilts. It started in 1979. This group helps quilt makers all over the country. They value both old and new ways of making quilts. Anyone interested in quilts can join. This includes people who work with patchwork, appliqué, and quilting.
Even though the museum is closed, the Quilters' Guild still takes care of its amazing collection. They have many old and new quilts. The guild often finds new places to show these beautiful quilts. This means people can still see them in different exhibitions.
