Quinney is a small, quiet community located in Wisconsin, United States. It's not a big city or a town with its own government. Instead, it's a group of homes and businesses that are part of the larger town of Stockbridge. This type of place is called an unincorporated community.

Discovering Quinney

Quinney is found in Calumet County, Wisconsin. It sits along Wisconsin Highway 55, a road that helps people travel through the area. This community is about one mile (1 km) north of where Highway 55 begins. Long ago, an important path called the Military Ridge Road also passed through Quinney.

How Quinney Got Its Name

The community of Quinney was named after two brothers, Austin E. and John W. Quinney. They were leaders of the Mohican people. In the 1820s, these brothers led a group of settlers from New York to this area. The community was named in their honor to remember their important role in its early history.
