Qyntel Deon Woods (born February 16, 1981) is an American former professional basketball player. He mostly played as a small forward, but sometimes also as a shooting guard.

Early Life and College Basketball Journey

Qyntel Woods was born in Memphis. He grew up in the Mallory Heights area. After attending Carver High School, he played college basketball for one season at Moberly Area Community College. He then played another season at Northeast Mississippi Community College.

Before the 2002 NBA Draft, experts saw Woods as a player with great potential. He was even compared to famous player Tracy McGrady. Woods decided to enter the NBA draft early, instead of playing for the University of Memphis.

Professional Basketball Career

Playing in the NBA

The NBA team Portland Trail Blazers chose Woods as the 21st pick in the 2002 NBA draft. In his first two seasons with the Trail Blazers, Woods played in 115 games. He scored an average of 2.4 and 3.6 points per game. He also played a little in the 2003 playoffs.

During the 2004–05 season, Woods faced some issues outside of basketball. Because of these issues, the Trail Blazers stopped his contract and then released him in January 2005.

After leaving Portland, Woods joined the Miami Heat. He played in three regular season games for them. He averaged 3.3 points and 2 rebounds per game. However, he did not play in the playoffs.

On August 2, 2005, Woods was part of a big trade involving 13 players. He was sent to the Boston Celtics. But the Celtics let him go after he played in only three practice games. On December 6, 2005, he signed with the New York Knicks.

Woods played more under the Knicks' coach Larry Brown. He started sixteen games and had his best career averages in minutes, shooting percentage, points, rebounds, and assists. His last NBA game was on April 19, 2006. The Knicks won 90–83 against the New Jersey Nets. In that game, he scored 2 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and had 1 assist and 1 steal.

The Knicks did not keep him for the next season. He then played for one month (from February to March) in the NBA Development League with the Bakersfield Jam.

Playing in Europe

On July 16, 2007, Woods signed a two-year contract with the Greek team Olympiacos. In 10 games in the Greek League, he averaged 12.5 points per game. His performance dropped a bit in the playoffs. After leaving Olympiacos, he signed with the Italian team Fortitudo Pallacanestro Bologna.

Woods then played for Asseco Prokom Gdynia in Poland. He helped them win their seventh straight Polish national league championship. Woods was a key player in Asseco's journey to the Top 8 in the 2009–10 EuroLeague season. In the same season, he was named the Polish League MVP.

In November 2010, Woods signed a one-year contract with the Russian club Krasnye Krylya Samara. But he was released in December because his performance was not what they expected. On January 30, 2011, he went back to play for Asseco Prokom Gdynia. He had some of his best years in Europe with this team.

In the summer of 2011, he signed with the Israeli team Maccabi Haifa. One year later, he signed with Lagun Aro GBC in Spain.

On July 8, 2013, Woods signed with the French club Le Mans Sarthe Basket. However, he left Le Mans on September 5, 2013. This was because he could not pass the team's physical exam due to a knee injury. In August 2014, Woods signed with AZS Koszalin in the Polish Basketball League. On July 16, 2015, he signed with the French club Cholet Basket. On October 15, 2017, Woods returned to AZS Koszalin for his second time with the club.
