Río Blanco is a municipality and town in the central mountains of the Mexican state of Veracruz. It is about 140 kilometers (87 miles) from Xalapa, the state capital. A municipality is like a local government area.

Río Blanco covers an area of 24.68 square kilometers (9.53 sq mi). You can find it at coordinates 18°50′N 97°09′W. In 1899, a rule was made to create the municipality of Río Blanco. It was named Tenango de Río Blanco.

In the same year, French investors started building a huge textile factory here. A textile factory makes cloth and fabric. This factory was the largest in Latin America. It opened on October 9, 1892, with Porfirio Díaz, who was the President of Mexico, attending the opening. At its busiest, the factory employed 1,700 workers. Only 60 of these workers were women.
