Rebecca Joan Anderson is a Canadian author. She writes exciting fantasy and science fiction books. Her stories are for children and teens. You might know her from the Faery Rebels or Ultraviolet series. R.J. Anderson lives in Stratford, Ontario.

About R.J. Anderson
Her Life Story
R.J. Anderson was born in Uganda in 1970. She went to school in New Jersey. She has three older brothers. Her father was a preacher. As a child, she read many books. This helped her when she faced bullying at school. Her father introduced her to science fiction and fantasy. Her brothers showed her comic books.
Today, R.J. Anderson is a pianist at her church. She also teaches Bible study. She is married and has three children. Some of her books include ideas about Christian faith. However, Publishers Weekly says she shares these ideas without sounding like she is giving a sermon.
What Critics Say
Critics really like R.J. Anderson's books. Kirkus Reviews calls her "an assured storyteller." They also say she is great at creating characters you will remember. Her books have won many awards.
The first book in her Faery Rebels series, Knife, won the Concorde Book Award in 2011. It was also nominated for a Carnegie Medal in 2009. In 2011, she was nominated for a Nebula Award for her book Ultraviolet. Ultraviolet was also a finalist for the Andre Norton Award in 2012.
Her books have been reviewed in CM: Canadian Review of Materials. They have also been reviewed in Canadian Children's Book News. Booklist called Ultraviolet "a natural grabber for teens." This book is about a young adult who has synesthesia. This means she can experience senses in unusual ways. In 2010, the Canadian Library Association named Spell Hunter an Honor Book.
