Rishiyur Venkata Srinivasa Aiyar was an important Indian figure who lived from 1852 to 1909. He was known as a civil servant, which means he worked for the government. Early Life and Learning
Srinivasa Aiyar was born in 1852 in a place called Vaiyacalathore. He was the first of four children born to R. S. Venkatarama Aiyar and Valambal.
A Teacher's Journey
After finishing his own studies, Srinivasa Aiyar started his career as a teacher. For three years, he worked as an Assistant Master at Wesleyan High School in Bangalore. From 1873 to 1884, he taught as an Assistant Lecturer at Government Arts College, Kumbakonam.
Working for the Government
In 1884, Srinivasa Aiyar joined the government service in Madras. He started as an assistant in the Revenue Settlement Department. This department helped manage land and taxes. He worked his way up and became the Secretary to the Commissioner of Revenue Settlement.
In July 1896, he was chosen to be the Director of the Department of Land Records and Agriculture. This role involved keeping track of land and helping with farming. Later, in December 1903, he became the Inspector General of Registration.
A Lawmaker's Role
Srinivasa Aiyar was also chosen to be a member of the Madras Legislative Council. This council was a group of people who helped make laws for the Madras Presidency. He was nominated in November 1902 and again on October 30, 1903.

Srinivasa Aiyar was very good at mathematics. People even called him "Euclid" or "Geometry" Srinivasa Aiyar. Euclid was a famous ancient Greek mathematician. This shows how skilled he was with numbers and shapes.
