The RSA Trustmark Building is a tall office building in downtown Mobile, Alabama. It has 34 floors and stands about 424 feet (129 meters) high. It was built in a modern style called "International Style."

This building has had many names over the years! It was first known as the First National Bank Building. Later, it was called the AmSouth Bank Building because AmSouth Bank was its biggest renter until 2006. In 2009, a new owner, the Retirement Systems of Alabama, renamed it the GM Building. After a bank called BancTrust moved in, it became the RSA–BankTrust Building. Finally, in 2013, Trustmark Corporation bought BancTrust. The building was then officially named the RSA Trustmark Building. Trustmark uses many floors in the tower, including the main lobby and floors 25 through 31.

Building's History

To make space for this new building, two older structures were taken down in 1963. These were the original First National Bank building, built in 1913, and a U.S. Customs House from 1853.

The new office tower was finished in 1965. For many years, it was the tallest building in all of Alabama. This changed in 1986 when the Shipt Tower in Birmingham became taller. The RSA Trustmark Building also remained the tallest building in Mobile until 2007. That year, the RSA Battle House Tower was completed, becoming Mobile's new tallest building.

For a short time, the RSA Trustmark Building was the second tallest in Mobile. This was until the Renaissance Hotel added a spire in 2008. That addition made the Renaissance Hotel even taller.

In February 2009, the Retirement Systems of Alabama bought the building and gave it its current name. Plans for big updates inside and outside were announced later that year. An architectural firm helped design these changes. The goal was to make the office spaces much nicer. Outside, all the old windows were replaced with new, longer ones that had a mirror tint. These renovations were completed by March 2011. Today, there's even a restaurant on the 34th floor. It offers amazing views of the Mobile area!
