Ra'Shon Lamar "Sunny" Harris is a former American football player. He was a defensive end, which is a player who tries to stop the other team's offense. He was born on August 26, 1986.

The Pittsburgh Steelers picked him in the 2009 NFL draft. This is when professional teams choose new players from college. Before that, he played college football for the University of Oregon. Harris also played for other teams like the Carolina Panthers, Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans, and Edmonton Eskimos.

Early Life and High School Football

Ra'Shon Harris grew up to be a talented football player. Experts thought he was one of the best high school players in California. He was also considered one of the top defensive linemen in the state.

He earned many awards during his high school years. He was named an All-Bay Valley League defender twice. He also received All-area honors two times from the Contra Costa Times newspaper. As a senior, he was the best in his league at getting to the quarterback. He had 5 sacks, which means he tackled the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. He finished his high school career with a total of 15 sacks.

College Football Career

Harris played college football for the University of Oregon. He joined the team in 2004. In his first year, he helped the team prepare for games.

In 2005, he played in all 12 games. The next year, 2006, he had a tough start. He hurt his triceps muscle, which is in the arm. But he worked hard and came back to play in the last six games. He even got a sack against the Washington team.

By 2007, he was playing in most games. He made 15 tackles, stopping opponents many times. In 2008, he became a starter for the first time. He was one of the top tacklers on his team with 47 tackles. He also had 9 tackles for a loss and 3 sacks. He was very strong, able to lift a lot of weight.

Ra'Shon Harris began his professional career in 2009. He was chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL Draft.

Playing for the Steelers and Panthers

The Steelers drafted Harris in the sixth round. This was the 205th pick overall. However, he was released by the Steelers before the season started.

Soon after, the Carolina Panthers picked him up. He played in two games for the Panthers. In one game against the Atlanta Falcons, he helped make a tackle. The Panthers later released him, but then signed him to their practice squad. A practice squad is where players train with the team but are not on the main roster.

The Pittsburgh Steelers then signed Harris back to their team. He replaced another player who was injured. He stayed with the Steelers for a while before being released again in 2010.

Later Teams
