Rachel Sarah Bilson (born August 25, 1981) is an American actress. She comes from a family involved in movies and TV. Rachel first appeared on TV in 2003. She became well-known for playing Summer Roberts in the TV show The O.C. She also acted in movies like The Last Kiss (2006) and Jumper (2008). From 2011 to 2015, she played Dr. Zoe Hart in the TV series Hart of Dixie.

Rachel Bilson has an older brother. She also has two younger half-sisters named Rosemary and Hattie. Her mother is Italian-American and was raised Catholic. Her father is Jewish. Rachel has shared that she grew up in a home that celebrated both Chrismukkah traditions.
Rachel's family has a long history in show business. Her grandfather, Bruce Bilson, is a producer and director. Her great-grandfather, George Bilson, worked for RKO Pictures. He was in charge of making movie trailers. Her great-grandmother, Hattie Bilson, was a screenwriter. Rachel went to Notre Dame High School. Some of her classmates were famous people like Kirsten Dunst and Rami Malek.
Rachel's Acting Career
Rachel went to Grossmont College. Her father told her to try acting as a career. She started by appearing in many TV commercials. These included ads for Subway and Pepto-Bismol.
In 2003, Rachel got her first TV acting roles. She appeared in episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and 8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter. Soon after, she was cast in The O.C.. This show started in August 2003. Her character, Summer Roberts, was only supposed to be in a few episodes. But fans loved her, so she became a regular on the show. Summer's love story with Seth Cohen (played by Adam Brody) was a big part of the series.
In 2005, Rachel won awards at the Teen Choice Awards. She won "Choice TV Actress (Drama)". She also won "Best Onscreen TV Chemistry" with Adam Brody.
Rachel's first movie was The Last Kiss in 2006. It was a romantic comedy-drama. She starred alongside Zach Braff. Critics said she played her role with "surprising depth."
Later, in 2006, Rachel was cast in the movie Jumper. This was a thriller film. It was released on February 14, 2008. She also appeared in two episodes of Chuck. In 2009, it looked like they were engaged. In 2010, her representative confirmed they had been engaged but had called it off. They got back together three months later. Rachel and Hayden had a daughter in October 2014. They separated in September 2017.
Rachel and Hayden both support the No Kids Policy. This is a group of celebrities who want to stop children of famous people from being photographed without their parents' permission.
