About Rachel Matthews' Early Life and Career
Growing Up and Starting Acting
Rachel Matthews was born in Los Angeles, California. She was born in 1993. Her mom is actress Leslie Landon, and her dad is Brian Matthews. Rachel loved acting from a young age. She enjoyed watching old Shirley Temple movies. This led her to take tap dancing and voice lessons. By age 10, she joined a local theater group.
College and First Roles
Rachel continued to study acting in college. She went to New York University Tisch School of the Arts. There, she became friends with actress Camila Mendes. They later became roommates in Los Angeles. She also met musician Maggie Rogers. Rachel and Camila even appeared in Maggie's music video "Give a Little".
In 2017, Rachel made her first movie appearance. It was in Happy Death Day. Her uncle, Christopher Landon, directed the film. She played Danielle Bouseman, a sorority house president. She played this role again in the 2019 sequel, Happy Death Day 2U.
That same year, Rachel also appeared in TV shows. She played the character Magpie in Batwoman. She had a small part in the Hulu series Looking for Alaska. Rachel also lent her voice to a character in the animated movie Frozen II.
Recent Projects and New Ventures
In July 2023, Rachel starred in a music video. It was for country singer Lainey Wilson's song "Watermelon Moonshine".
In June 2024, Rachel started a new company. She co-founded a production company called Honor Role. She started it with her friend, actress Camila Mendes.
