Camila Carraro Mendes (born June 29, 1994) is an American actress. She is best known for playing Veronica Lodge in the popular TV show Riverdale. This teen drama series aired from 2017 to 2023. For her role, Camila won a Teen Choice Award in 2017.
She has also starred in several movies. These include The Perfect Date (2019) and Palm Springs (2020). More recently, she played lead roles in Do Revenge (2022) and the romantic comedies Upgraded (2024) and Música (2024). She also helped produce the last two films.

Early Life and Education
Camila Mendes was born on June 29, 1994, in Charlottesville, Virginia. Her parents are from Brazil. Her father, Victor Mendes, is a business executive. Her mother, Gisele Carraro, works as a flight attendant. Camila has an older sister.
Because of her parents' jobs, Camila moved many times while growing up. She lived mainly in Florida. When she was 10, she lived in Brasília, Brazil, for one year.
Camila studied fine arts at the American Heritage School in Florida. She graduated from there in 2012. In May 2016, she graduated from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. While studying there, she became friends with singer Maggie Rogers.
Acting Career Highlights
Camila Mendes' first acting job was in a commercial for IKEA. In 2016, she got her big break. She was cast as Veronica Lodge in The CW's teen drama series Riverdale. This show is a modern take on the Archie Comics.
For her amazing performance in Riverdale, she won the Teen Choice Award for Choice Scene Stealer in 2017.
Camila also started acting in movies. Her first film was The New Romantic in 2018. In the same year, she joined the cast of the romantic comedy The Perfect Date. This movie was released on Netflix in 2019.
In 2019, she starred in the film Coyote Lake. In 2020, she appeared in the science fiction comedy Palm Springs. This movie was very popular. She also starred in the Netflix thriller Dangerous Lies that same year.
In 2022, Camila Mendes co-starred with Maya Hawke in the teen comedy Do Revenge for Netflix. She played Drea, a popular student seeking revenge.
In 2024, Camila starred as Ana Santos in the Amazon Prime romantic comedy film Upgraded. Critics praised her performance and the film. She also starred in another Amazon romantic comedy, Mùsica (2024).
In June 2024, Camila Mendes started her own production company called Honor Role. She co-founded it with Rachel Matthews. In August 2024, it was announced that she will play Teela in the upcoming live-action movie Masters of the Universe.

Camila Mendes is Brazilian American. She identifies as Latin American. She can speak Portuguese. Sometimes, when she auditions for Latin American roles, she has been told she doesn't "look Latina enough."
Camila dated her Riverdale co-star Charles Melton from 2018 to 2019. In 2023, she shared that she was dating actor and internet personality Rudy Mancuso. They met while working on the movie Música.
