Charles Michael Melton (born January 4, 1991) is an American actor. He is famous for playing Reggie Mantle in the TV show Riverdale. He also gained a lot of praise for his role in the movie May December (2023). For this movie, he was even nominated for a big award called the Golden Globe Award.

Early Life and School
Charles Michael Melton was born on January 4, 1991. His birthplace was Juneau, Alaska, in the United States. His parents are Sukyong and Phil Melton. His dad is American with English family roots. His mom is a Korean immigrant. She moved to the U.S. with his father in 1990. Charles is their oldest child.
His family moved around a lot because his father worked for the military. For about five years, they lived in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi, South Korea. Later, they settled in Manhattan, Kansas. Charles finished high school there in 2009. He then went to Kansas State University. He played defensive back on the school's football team. His coach was Bill Snyder.
When he was twenty, Charles left college to become an actor. He moved to Los Angeles, California, in 2012. Before becoming famous, he even worked as a dog walker. He used an app called Wag for this job.
Acting Career
Charles Melton first found success as a model. He worked for big brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Kenneth Cole, and MAC. His first acting jobs were small roles. He appeared in TV shows like Glee and American Horror Story.
In 2017, Charles became widely known. He was chosen to play Reggie Mantle in the second season of Riverdale. He took over the role from Ross Butler. Ross left the show to work on 13 Reasons Why. Charles was a recurring actor in season two. Then, he became a main cast member starting with season three.
In 2019, Charles starred in his first big movie. It was called The Sun Is Also a Star. This film was based on a popular book by Nicola Yoon. In this movie, he played Daniel Bae. This role was very important. It made him the first Korean-American and Asian-American actor to lead a teen romance film from a major Hollywood studio.
In 2023, he acted in the Netflix movie May December. He starred alongside famous actors Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore. Charles's acting in this film was highly praised by critics. He won several awards for Best Supporting Actor. These included the Gotham Independent Film Awards and the National Society of Film Critics Awards. He was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award.
