Rachid Solh (born 1 January 1926 – died 27 June 2014) was an important Lebanese politician. He served as the Prime Minister of Lebanon two times. He came from one of the most well-known and powerful families in the country.

Early Life and Political Start

Rachid Solh was born in 1926. He began his political journey by being elected to the Lebanese Parliament. This first election happened in 1960. Being a member of Parliament meant he helped make laws for the country.

Becoming Prime Minister

In 1974, President Suleiman Frangieh chose Rachid Solh to be the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister is the head of the government. This is a very important job in Lebanon. He worked to guide the country.

Leaving Office and Later Years

Rachid Solh resigned from his position as Prime Minister on 15 May 1975. This happened just a few weeks after the start of a major conflict in Lebanon. He later served as Prime Minister again from May to October 1992. Rachid Solh passed away on 27 June 2014, at the age of 88.
