Radlett Aerodrome was a special place in Hertfordshire, England. It was an airfield, which is like a small airport, and also a factory where airplanes were built. Today, a famous company called Eon Productions owns the land.

A big part of this old airfield is now covered by the M25 motorway. This is a major road that goes around London. You can find it between junctions 21 (the A405 road) and 22 (the A1081 road).

History of Radlett Aerodrome

Radlett Aerodrome was also known as RAF Radlett. RAF stands for Royal Air Force, which is the United Kingdom's air and space force. A group called No. 80 Wing RAF was based there for some time.

For many years, people discussed what to do with the land. In the 2010s, there were different ideas for its future. Finally, in 2020, everyone agreed on a plan. The site would be turned into a rail freight terminal. This is a place where goods are moved from trains to trucks, or vice versa.

Where Was Radlett Aerodrome?

The Handley Page works were located at Radlett. This was a factory where airplanes were made. It was on the east side of the old A5. This road used to be a main route from the Midlands into London.

The entire site was positioned between two important transport routes. To the west was the A5 road. To the east was the Midland Main Line, a busy railway line. The M25 motorway now cuts right across the former airfield from east to west.
