Rafael Dieste (born in Rianxo in 1899, died in Santiago de Compostela in 1981) was a talented writer from Galicia, Spain. He wrote poems, plays, and short stories. He also thought deeply about art and life, making him a philosopher. He mainly wrote in Galician language, but also in Spanish language.

Another Galician poet, Manuel Antonio, encouraged him to start writing. Dieste wrote many plays for the theater. He also wrote a lot about aesthetics, which is the study of beauty and art. His stories are sometimes compared to the amazing, dream-like art of M. C. Escher.

Rafael Dieste's nephew was Eladio Dieste, a famous architect from Uruguay. It is thought that Eladio's way of designing buildings might have been similar to the ideas in his uncle's poetry.
