Rafael Serrallet's Amazing Career
Rafael Serrallet started playing the guitar when he was 12 years old. He studied with famous teachers, including a student of the legendary Andres Segovia. Rafael also earned a special degree in music.
He has been a professional musician for over 25 years. During this time, he has played more than a thousand concerts. He has performed in over 80 different countries! This makes him one of the most experienced Spanish guitar players internationally.
Playing on Every Continent
Rafael Serrallet is the first classical musician to perform on all seven continents in just one year! In 2018, he traveled the world. He played concerts everywhere, even in Antarctica.
As a solo performer, Rafael has played with many big orchestras. These include the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Panama Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with the Ukraine Philharmonic.
Besides playing by himself, he also performs with other musicians. He loves to try new musical projects with artists from different cultures. Rafael has recorded many CDs. Some are solo albums, and others are with orchestras or groups.
A Guinness World Record Holder
In 2018, Rafael Serrallet achieved a Guinness World Record. He became the first musician to play a concert on every continent. He did this in an incredible 154 days and 22 hours!
His record-breaking concerts took place in several cities. These included Chicago in the USA and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. He also played in Christchurch, New Zealand, and Ushuaia, Argentina. One special concert was at Neko Harbour in Antarctica. He also performed in Oviedo, Spain, and Mombasa, Kenya.
Rafael as a Teacher
Rafael Serrallet has taught music at conservatories in Spain. He also gives special master classes to students worldwide. These classes are held at universities and music schools.
He has also been a judge for international music competitions. Rafael used to direct the International Iberian Musical Institute. This organization created music projects with schools globally. He has taught in many places, including the University of Zagreb and the University Santo Tomas of Manila. He has also taught at the Edward Saïd Conservatory in Jerusalem.
