Rashin Rahman (born on May 23, 1967), known simply as Rahman, is an Indian actor. He has starred in about 200 films. Most of his movies are in Malayalam cinema, but he has also worked in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu films. He has won many awards for his acting. In Tamil and Telugu movies, people also know him as Raghuman or Raghu.
Rahman started his acting journey in 1983 with the film Koodevide. For this movie, he won his first Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Actor. In the 1980s, he was a very popular young star in Malayalam cinema. Later, he began playing lead roles in Tamil and Telugu films. He returned to Malayalam films in 2004.

Early Life and Education
Rahman was born in Abu Dhabi on May 23, 1967. His family comes from Nilambur, Kerala, India. He is the older of two children. His parents are K. M. A. Rahman and Savithri. He also has a younger sister named Shameema.
He went to school in different places. He studied at Merryland Kindergarten in Abu Dhabi, and then at Baldwin Boys' High School in Bangalore. He also attended St Joseph's School in Abu Dhabi and Rex Higher Secondary School in Ooty. After that, he went to Dr. Gafoor Memorial MES Mampad College in Mampad-Malappuram for his pre-university studies.
Acting Career Highlights
Starting in Malayalam Films
In 1983, while still in high school, Rahman was discovered by the famous Malayalam director Padmarajan. Padmarajan offered him the main role in his film Koodevide. This movie was a huge success, and Rahman became an instant star. He was praised for his acting and won the Kerala State Award for Second Best Actor at just 16 years old.
In 1984, he acted in several successful films. These included Kaliyil Alpam Karyam and Ithiri Poove Chuvannapoove. He received more awards for his performance in Ithiri Poove Chuvannapoove. That same year, he starred in Kanamarayathu, which was a big hit. The song Oru Madhurakinavin from this film, featuring Rahman and Shobana, became very popular and is still remembered today.
Rahman continued to star in many films throughout the 1980s. He worked with major directors like Padmarajan, Bharathan, and I. V. Sasi. Some of his notable films from this period include Parannu Parannu Parannu, Uyarangalil, Kanamarayathu, and Chilambu. Chilambu was a martial arts movie that did very well at the box office. He also played dual roles in the thriller Charithram, which was well-liked by critics and audiences.
In the early 1990s, Rahman focused more on Tamil and Telugu films. He made a comeback to Malayalam cinema in 2004 with the film Black, where he acted alongside Mammootty. He continued to appear in popular Malayalam films like Rajamanikyam (2005) and Traffic (2011). In 2013, he played a lead role in Mumbai Police, which was a big success. Working in Tamil and Telugu Films
Rahman's first Tamil film was Nilave Malare, released in 1986. He then appeared in other Tamil movies like Kanne Kaniyamuthe and Anbulla Appa.
In 1999, he acted in the Tamil film Sangamam, which was about the differences between classical and folk dance. The music for this film was created by the famous composer A. R. Rahman. In 2004, he used his own voice to dub for the first time in the Tamil film Ethiri.
He also made a return to Telugu films in 2005 with Dhairyam. Rahman played the villain in the successful Tamil film Billa (2007) and its Telugu version in 2009.
In 2010, his Telugu film Simha became one of the highest-earning movies in the Telugu Film Industry that year. He later appeared in films like Oosaravelli and Vanthaan Vendraan. In 2014, he played the father of the main character in the movie Govindudu Andarivadele. In 2016, he starred in the Tamil thriller Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru.
