The idea for the museum began in early 2013. Workers built it on a large area of about 880 square meters (9,500 square feet). It is located next to the Rail Kalyana Mandapam, which is a community hall, near the Tiruchirappalli Junction railway station.

The museum officially opened its doors on February 18, 2014. It cost about 1.5 crore Indian Rupees to build. This money helped create a wonderful place where everyone can learn about the exciting world of railways.

The Railway Heritage Centre has many cool things to see, both inside and outside. It was set up as part of the 150-year celebration of the old South Indian Railway.

Inside the Museum
