History of Ralph's Name
Ralph has its own post office with the ZIP code 35480. This post office first opened a long time ago, on March 3, 1900.
How Ralph Got Its Name
When the post office first started, the community was known as Hickman. This name was chosen to honor William P. Hickman, who was the very first postmaster there.
However, in 1900, the name was changed to Ralph. People believe it was named after someone from the postmaster's family at that time. It might have been named for Ralph Stewart, the postmaster's son, or for Kathleen Ralf Stewart, who was the postmaster's wife.
