Bradley became a lawyer at Gray's Inn. This is one of the places in London where lawyers are trained. He then worked in Stockton-on-Tees for 50 years.

His Work and Reputation

People said he handled legal matters for most of County Durham. Even though he worked outside of London, his legal advice was highly respected. His legal documents were very detailed. Some of his documents were even used as examples by other lawyers later on.

His Death

Ralph Bradley passed away on December 28, 1788. He died in Stockton-on-Tees. He was buried in the church in Greatham. A special monument was put up there to remember him.

Ralph Bradley's Writings

Bradley also wrote books about law. In 1779, he published a book in London. It was called An Enquiry into the Nature of Property and Estates as defined by English Law. This book looked at ideas about property law.

Practical Points

Another book was published in 1804. It was called Practical Points, or Maxims in Conveyancing. This book shared Bradley's notes and tips. It was about the detailed rules of conveyancing. Joseph Ritson, who had studied with Bradley, helped put this book together.

Ralph Bradley's Legacy

In his will, Bradley left a large sum of money. It was about £40,000. He wanted this money to buy books. These books were meant to help promote good values and happiness.

Legal Challenge

However, a judge named Lord Thurlow made a decision. He said that Bradley's plan for the money could not happen. Instead, the money went to Bradley's closest family members.
