Ralph Schomberg was a respected doctor in 18th-century Britain. He came from a family of doctors. His father, Meyer Löw Schomberg, was also a doctor who had moved to England.

Early Life and Family

Ralph was one of several brothers. His father decided to raise his children in the Christian faith. This change allowed Ralph and his brothers to pursue public careers more easily. Ralph had a twin brother named Isaac, who also became a doctor and a legal official.

A Doctor in Bath and Reading

Around 1761, Ralph Schomberg moved to Bath. This city was famous for its healing waters and was a popular place for wealthy people to visit. Ralph lived and worked in Bath for at least ten years.

During his time in Bath, Dr. Schomberg was the doctor for the famous painter Thomas Gainsborough and his family. In 1771, he helped Gainsborough's older daughter, Mary, with a long-term illness. Other doctors had said her illness was something she was born with. Later, Dr. Schomberg moved to Reading.

His Family's Legacy

Ralph Schomberg had a son named Isaac Schomberg. His son grew up to become a captain. The Schomberg family had a notable presence in British society.
