Rambler was once a small community in Carbon County, Wyoming, in the United States. It was not a city or town with its own government. Instead, it was an "unincorporated community," meaning it was a group of homes and buildings that were not officially part of a larger town.

Rambler was mainly a copper-mining town. It existed for a short time, from around 1890 to 1912.

What Was Rambler Like?

Rambler was a busy place during its mining days. People lived and worked there, hoping to find valuable copper. The community had a post office, which was important for sending and receiving mail. However, the post office closed in 1910, which was a sign that the town was starting to decline.

The Doane-Rambler Mine

The most important part of Rambler was its main mine, called the Doane-Rambler. This mine was very significant because it was one of the first two commercial copper mines in the Sierra Madre Mountains. "Commercial" means it was set up to dig up copper to sell for money.

Mining at the Doane-Rambler began in 1895. Copper was a very important metal back then, used for many things like wires and pipes. The mine brought workers and their families to the area, creating the community of Rambler.

It's important not to confuse the Doane-Rambler mine with another mine called the New Rambler. The New Rambler mine was located in a different mountain range, the Medicine Bow Mountains, which are to the east.
