About Ramen

Ramen was born in Hyderabad, a city in India. He went to Hyderabad Public School in Begumpet. After finishing his engineering degree and an MBA, he started working at the Rourkela Steel Plant in Rourkela. He has a daughter named Ankita, sons named Aniket and Labrador Aryan.

How He Started Writing

Ramen first started his writing journey by creating satire and poetry. But then, his daughter began asking him for stories. This made him decide to write books for children. His very first book for kids came out in 1997.

Since 1997, many famous publishers have released his books. These include Penguin, Duckbill Hachette, Pratham, and National Book Trust (NBT). His stories have also appeared in many collections of short stories (anthologies). You might even find his stories in the popular Chicken Soup for the Soul series. Ramen's works have also been published in newspapers and magazines.

He has written many travel stories and articles about relationships and parenting. Some of his special graphic novels are also very important. For example, he adapted the Juvenile Justice Act into a graphic novel in 2006. This book was even supported by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). He also wrote a graphic novel about diabetes. This was published by Butterflies, an organization that helps children.

His Books in Schools

Ramen's stories are used in schools all over the world! One of his stories is in a textbook for ninth-grade students in Norway. Another story was turned into a Kamishibai, which is a traditional way of telling stories in Japan. His stories are also in 15 textbooks for schools in India that follow the CBSE and ICSE boards. They are also used in schools abroad. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in India has even suggested six of his books as extra reading for students.

His read-aloud book, Paplu the Giant, was chosen for special storytelling events. This happened to celebrate International Literacy Day. By September 7, 2013, the story was told in more than 25 languages. It was shared in 27 states across India and in other countries too. Paplu the Giant was also made into an audio book by Radio Mirchi. This audio book was given out by Pratham and the National Association for the Blind. The Department of Education in Sri Lanka even published one of his stories in a textbook for fifth-grade students. This book is given to children in Sri Lanka for free.

Ramen is also a popular speaker and storyteller. He has been invited to many festivals, like the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival and the Jaipur Literature Festival. He also teaches creative writing in places like Denmark, Kenya, and Sri Lanka.
