Rameses Revenge was a super exciting ride at Chessington World of Adventures Resort theme park in London, England. It opened in 1995 and was a type of ride called a Top Spin. How Rameses Revenge Worked
Rameses Revenge was built by a German company called Huss Rides. They had also made another ride at Chessington called Black Buccaneer. This ride was one of the first Top Spin rides to use water fountains. These fountains would spray riders at certain times during the ride.
The ride opened in June 1995. It was a big deal for Chessington World of Adventures Resort that year. It was even shown on the ITV Evening News!
Where Was the Ride Located?
Rameses Revenge was in the Forbidden Kingdom area of the park. This area had an Egyptian theme. The ride itself was built into a pit, surrounded by buildings that looked like an old Arabic market.
In 2007, the ride was updated to make it even better. Then, in 2000, it got a new look with different colors and a new logo. The entrance to the ride was moved in 2015, which also made the queue line shorter.
When Did Rameses Revenge Close?
Rameses Revenge closed for good on 3 November 2019. It was taken down from Chessington before the start of the year 2020. A new ride called Croc Drop took its place. Croc Drop is a crocodile-themed drop tower ride. This means there are no more permanent HUSS Top Spin rides left in the UK.
Why Was Rameses Revenge So Popular?
Rameses Revenge was one of the most famous rides to open in Britain. It had a big advertising campaign that made it known as a very new and exciting ride for its time. The ride helped Chessington have its busiest year ever. Over 2.2 million people visited the park in 1995, thanks in part to Rameses Revenge!
