Ramos Arizpe is a city in the Mexican state of Coahuila. It is the main city of the municipality of the same name.
Ramos Arizpe is located about 11 kilometers (7 miles) from Saltillo. Saltillo is the capital city of Coahuila. Ramos Arizpe is part of the larger Saltillo metropolitan area.
In 2005, the city of Ramos Arizpe had about 48,228 people living there. The whole municipality had a population of 56,708. The total area of the municipality is about 5,306.6 square kilometers (2,048.9 sq mi).
The city was first started in 1577. It was called Valle de las Labores then. This name was chosen because the soil was very good for farming.

History of Ramos Arizpe
How Ramos Arizpe Got Its Name
In 1606, the town's name was changed. It became Valle de San Nicolás de la Capellanía. This happened because Spanish missionaries brought a special image of Saint Nicholas of Tolentino there.
Ramos Arizpe Today: An Industrial Hub
Today, Ramos Arizpe is a big industrial center. It started growing in 1974. Many car factories and related businesses are located here.
Big companies like General Motors have large factories in Ramos Arizpe. Their Ramos Arizpe Assembly plant has made many famous cars. These include the Pontiac Aztek, Buick Rendezvous, and Cadillac SRX.
Other important companies are also here. They make parts for cars. For example, Chrysler has a factory that makes engines.

Important Landmarks
Ramos Arizpe has several historical places to visit:
- The house of Don Miguel Ramos Arizpe. He was an important figure in Mexican history. He is known as the "father of Mexican federalism."
- Hacienda Santa María. This old estate was built in 1721. Father Miguel Hidalgo held his last mass here.
- Hacienda de Guadalupe. This is where the Plan de Guadalupe was signed in 1913. This was a key event during the Mexican Revolution.
