Ramose and the Tomb Robbers is an exciting historical novel. It was written by Australian author Carole Wilkinson in 2003. The story takes readers on an adventure in ancient Egypt.

Discovering the Story

This book tells the tale of Ramose, a young man who used to be a prince. Now, he is learning to be a scribe, someone who writes and keeps records. The story begins with a problem: a tomb that workers are building gets flooded. Because of this, a new group of workers has to take over. The original workers, including Ramose and his friends, are sent away to a place called Tombos.

A Journey North

Ramose, along with his loyal friends Hapu and Karoya, decide to travel north. Karoya also brings her new cat, Mery. Their goal is to reach Memphis. Ramose's father, the Pharaoh (the ruler of Egypt), is very ill and dying. Ramose wants to see him one last time.

Facing Danger

During their journey north, Ramose and Hapu face a big challenge. They are captured by dangerous tomb robbers. These robbers force the boys to help them break into ancient tombs and steal valuable treasures. While trying to escape or defend themselves, they accidentally cause one of the robbers to die. The robbers then trap Ramose and Hapu inside the tomb.

A Clever Escape

Luckily, Karoya's clever cat, Mery, helps them find a way out of the sealed tomb. But their troubles are not over. When they escape, villagers see them and mistake them for tomb robbers. Ramose and his friends have to quickly get away. They manage to cross the Nile River just as Ramose's father and sister, Hatshepsut, arrive on a royal boat.

Returning to Thebes

After their narrow escape, Ramose and his friends make an important decision. They choose to go back to Thebes, the capital city. They need to tell Ramose's father about a dangerous plan. Someone named Mutnofret is plotting to harm Ramose. It's a race against time to warn the Pharaoh and keep Ramose safe.
