Randolph Prim (born November 7, 1896 – died November 26, 1986) was a talented pitcher who played in the Negro Leagues. He was a member of the famous Kansas City Monarchs team.
Randolph Prim's Early Life and Baseball Career
Randolph Prim was born on November 7, 1896, in Prescott, Arkansas. His parents were Joe and Ida Prim. When he was young, his family moved to Kansas City, Kansas.
Prim served in the United States Army during the First World War. After the war, he joined the Kansas City Monarchs baseball team in 1925. He was 28 years old at the time. He played with the Monarchs for two years, becoming their main pitcher in 1926.
Life After Baseball
After his baseball career, Randolph Prim became a bricklayer. He was a member of the Bricklayers Union in Kansas City. He was also a dedicated member of his Masonic Lodge for 50 years.
When he was 84, Prim moved to a nursing home in Salina, Kansas. He lived there for six years. Randolph Prim passed away on November 26, 1986, at the age of 90. He was buried at Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina.
