Randolph Algernon Ronald Stewart (born November 21, 1892, died June 13, 1978) was a British nobleman. He held the title of the 12th Earl of Galloway. He was the son of Randolph Stewart, 11th Earl of Galloway. From 1901 to 1920, he was known as Viscount Garlies.

Growing Up and Education

Randolph's father became the Earl of Galloway in 1901. This happened after his uncle, Alan Stewart, 10th Earl of Galloway, passed away.

Randolph went to Harrow School, a famous boarding school. After that, he attended the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. This is where people train to become army officers. He joined the Scots Guards, a well-known British Army regiment. He fought with them during World War I.

Military Service and Leadership

When World War II began, Randolph took on an important role. He became the first Commanding Officer of the 7th Battalion. This battalion was part of the King's Own Scottish Borderers regiment.

Family Life

On October 14, 1924, Randolph married Philippa Fendall Wendell. Their wedding took place at St Margaret's, Westminster in London. Philippa was an American heiress. Her family had been living in England for several years.

Randolph and Philippa had two children:

Philippa, Lady Galloway, passed away on February 22, 1974. Lord Galloway died a few years later, on June 13, 1978. His son, Randolph, then inherited his titles.
