Train Services at Ranui
Trains on the Western Line stop at Ranui station. These trains travel between Swanson and Britomart. Transdev runs these services for Auckland Transport, which manages public transport in Auckland.
In 2017, some people living near the station shared concerns about safety. This led to security staff being present at the station for a period of time.
What is a Stabling Yard?
A stabling yard is a place where trains are stored when they are not in use. It's like a parking lot for trains. These yards are also used to clean trains and provide a space for staff.
Ranui's Stabling Yard Plan
Years ago, there was a plan to build a stabling yard near Ranui station. This yard would have been used to store up to 11 trains. It would also have had places for staff to park and rest.
However, people living nearby did not want the stabling yard in Ranui. Because of their concerns, the plan was changed. The stabling yard was then moved to a different location in Henderson.
