Raymond Stanley Tenorio (born February 8, 1965) is a politician from Guam. He used to be a police officer before entering politics. Ray Tenorio served as the ninth Lieutenant Governor of Guam. This important role lasted from January 3, 2011, to January 7, 2019. He is a member of the Republican Party. Before becoming Lieutenant Governor, he was a Senator in the Legislature of Guam. He served as a Senator from January 6, 2003, to January 3, 2011. In 2018, he ran for Governor of Guam but did not win.

Ray Tenorio's Early Life and School
Ray Tenorio was born on February 8, 1965, in Orlando, Florida. He lived in Orlando with his birth father for a while. Later, he went to live in a foster home. His mother, Helen V. Eubank, found him in a foster home in Tennessee. She then married Romeo Mantanona Tenorio. When Ray was about ten years old, his mother brought him to Guam.
High School and College
Ray Tenorio finished high school at George Washington High School in Guam in 1983. He then studied at Guam Community College. In 1984, he earned a certificate in Criminal Justice. He continued his education at the University of Guam. In 2000, he earned a bachelor's degree in public administration. He later earned a master's degree in public administration from the same university in July 2011.
Ray Tenorio's Career
Before becoming a politician, Ray Tenorio worked as a police officer. He served in the Guam Police Department for fourteen years. He also worked as the president of two companies. These companies were Trace Investigation Inc. and Denanche Security Agency.
Serving in the Guam Legislature
Ray Tenorio was first chosen to be a Senator in the Guam Legislature. This happened in the November 2002 election. He received the most votes in both the 2002 and 2004 elections. He became a Senator in January 2003. He served four terms in the Legislature. This was before he became Lieutenant Governor in 2011.
Becoming Lieutenant Governor
In 2010, Eddie Calvo, a Republican candidate, chose Ray Tenorio as his running mate. A running mate is someone who runs for a lower office with a candidate for a higher office. They ran together for the 2010 gubernatorial election. Calvo and Tenorio won against other Republicans in the primary election. A primary election helps a party choose its main candidates.
Winning the Election
The team of Eddie Calvo and Ray Tenorio won the 2010 Guam gubernatorial election. They won by about 500 votes. They were sworn into office on January 3, 2011. The ceremony took place at the Plaza de España in Hagåtña. Their opponents tried to challenge the results in court. However, their lawsuit was not successful.
Running for Governor in 2018
In January 2018, Ray Tenorio announced he would run for Governor of Guam. He chose former senator V. Anthony "Tony" Ada as his running mate. The Tenorio/Ada team ran without opposition in the Republican primary. However, they lost the general election. The winner was Democrat Lou Leon Guerrero.

Ray Tenorio is married to Madoka Hosotani Tenorio. They live in Yigo, Guam. He has five children: LaDonna, Nicole, Raymond Jr., Rome Scott, and Richard. He also has many grandchildren. Ray Tenorio used to enjoy playing the online game World of Warcraft.
