Raymond II of Turenne facts for kids
Raymond II (born around 1143 – died 1190 at Acre) was an important leader known as the 9th Viscount of Turenne. He belonged to a powerful family called the House of Comborn. Raymond was the son of Viscount Boson II and Eustorgie d'Anduze. His grandfather was Raymond I of Turenne.
Raymond was born four months after his father passed away. This is called being born posthumously. He often joined his cousin, Aimar V of Limoges, in fighting against Duke Richard I. Richard I was also known as Richard the Lionheart. Raymond later joined a big journey and war called the Third Crusade. He died during this crusade in 1190, while fighting in the Siege of Acre.
Raymond's Family Life
Raymond was married to a woman named Helie. She was the daughter of Bernard of Castelnau. After Raymond's death, Helie became a nun at Obazine Abbey.

Raymond and Helie had several children:
- Raymond III (died 1219), who became the next Viscount of Turenne.

- Contors, who married Elijah of Comborn.
- Marie, who married Viscount Eble V of Ventadorn (died around 1236).
- Helie, who married Bernard of Casnac.
A famous poet and musician of that time, called a troubadour, named Bertran de Born, wrote songs about Raymond's three daughters.
