Raúl Alberto Lastiri (born September 11, 1915 – died December 11, 1978) was an Argentine politician. He served as the interim president of Argentina for a short time. This means he was president temporarily, from July 13, 1973, to October 12, 1973.
Before becoming president, Lastiri was in charge of the Argentine Chamber of Deputies. He became president after the previous leaders, Héctor Cámpora and Vicente Solano Lima, stepped down. His main job was to organize new elections. He then handed over the government to Juan Perón, who won the elections with more than 60% of the votes.

Lastiri's Time as President
Changes in Government
During Raúl Lastiri's short time as president, the government's direction shifted. There was a move towards more conservative policies within the Peronist Party.
His father-in-law, José López Rega, became the Minister of Social Welfare. Other important changes included Alberto Juan Vignes taking over as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Also, Benito Llambí became the Minister of Interior.
Even with these changes, Argentina's foreign policy continued to support developing nations. For example, in August 1973, Argentina gave Cuba a large loan. This money helped Cuba buy machinery and cars.
Economic Plans
José Ber Gelbard remained the Economy Minister. He continued his plans, which included the government taking control of bank deposits. He also announced a "Triennial Plan" to help the country's economy grow over three years.
Challenges During His Presidency
Towards the end of Lastiri's time in office, there was an increase in violence against the government. On September 25, a sad event occurred when José Ignacio Rucci was killed. He was a very important labor leader and a close friend of Juan Perón.
In the same month, another group attacked an army medical center in Parque Patricios, a neighborhood in Buenos Aires. An officer died during this attack. Because of these events, the government declared the group illegal. They also closed down a newspaper called El Mundo.
