Rebecca Marie Bross is a talented American gymnast. She won six medals at the World Championships. She was born on July 11, 1993.

About Rebecca Bross

Rebecca Marie Bross is the daughter of Terry and Donna Bross. She has an older brother named Benjamin. Rebecca married Billy Burks on December 17, 2022.

Rebecca started gymnastics when she was five years old. She trained at WOGA Gymnastics in Plano, Texas. Her coach there was Valeri Liukin.

Rebecca's Gymnastics Journey

Rebecca became a Junior International Elite gymnast in 2005. This meant she was one of the top young gymnasts. She competed in her first U.S. Nationals that year. She finished 16th overall and joined the national team.

Early Competitions

In 2006, Rebecca placed fourth at the U.S. Nationals. This helped her join the Junior Pan American Championships team. In 2007, she was part of the Pan American Games team. She won a silver medal in the all-around competition. Later that year, she won her first national championship title in the U.S.

Rebecca also competed in some events in early 2008. She won gold medals at the Pacific Rim Championships. She won in the all-around, on beam, bars, and floor. She then took a break due to a broken foot.

Senior Career Highlights

In 2009, Rebecca competed at the U.S. National Championships. She finished third in the all-around. She also placed third on balance beam and second on floor.

At the World Championships in London, England, Rebecca did very well. She qualified first for the all-around final. She also qualified for the uneven bars and floor finals. In the all-around final, she won the silver medal. She also earned a bronze medal on the uneven bars.

In March 2010, Rebecca won the all-around title at the American Cup. She won every event except vault. In April, she won the senior all-around title at the Pacific Rim Championships in Australia.

Rebecca became the 2010 national champion at the Visa Championships. She then joined the U.S. team for the 2010 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam. The team won a silver medal. Rebecca also won a bronze medal in the all-around. She earned another bronze on uneven bars and a silver on balance beam.

Facing Challenges

In 2011, Rebecca faced a tough injury. During a competition, she dislocated her right kneecap. This injury meant she could not compete for the rest of the year.

Olympic Dreams

In 2012, Rebecca competed in the Olympic trials. She hoped to join the team for the London Olympics. She competed on the beam and uneven bars. However, she had some falls and did not make the Olympic team. She was also not chosen as an alternate. Many people thought this would be the end of her gymnastics career.

Life After Competition

Rebecca did not officially announce her retirement from gymnastics. However, she stopped training and competing after the 2012 Olympic trials. Some gymnastics fans see her as one of the unluckiest gymnasts. This is because she had several injuries during her career. Between 2008 and 2012, she had four injuries. These included a broken foot and a dislocated knee.

In September 2013, Rebecca started coaching gymnastics. She worked at Iarov Elite Gymnastics in Dallas, Texas. In 2022, Rebecca finished her studies. She became a physical therapist at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.
