Red-tailed black shark facts for kids
The red-tailed black shark is a freshwater fish in the carp family, Cyprinidae. Its scientific name is Epalzeorhynchos bicolor. It is not actually a shark, just so-called in its popular name.
It is endemic to Thailand. It is critically endangered. It is common in aquariums, where its deep black body and vivid red or orange tail are prized. The red-tailed black sharks seen in aquariums today are all bred in captivity.
It is omnivorous.
