Red Lake Nation College is a special kind of school called a tribal college. It is located on the Red Lake Indian Reservation in Red Lake, Minnesota. This college helps students get a great education after high school. It is officially recognized by the Higher Learning Commission, which means its degrees are valid and respected. About 150 students attend this college.
The college gets a lot of support from elders and other community members. These people often speak the Anishinaabe language. They also share important knowledge about the history of the Red Lake Nation. In 2024, Red Lake Nation College opened a new campus in downtown Minneapolis. This new location helps students who live away from the reservation.
Working Together: Partnerships
Red Lake Nation College is part of a group called the American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC). This group includes many tribal colleges and universities. Their main goal is to make tribal nations stronger. They also work to improve the lives of American Indians and Alaska Natives.
RLNC was created to meet the education needs of American Indians. Many students live in areas that are far from other colleges. Red Lake Nation College gives them a chance to continue their education after high school.
