Red Mesa High School is a public high school located in Red Mesa, Arizona. This area is a community without its own town government, found in Apache County, Arizona, close to Teec Nos Pos. It is one of two high schools managed by the Red Mesa Unified School District. The other school is Red Valley/Cove High School.

School History

Before Red Mesa High School opened its own buildings, high school classes were held at the local elementary school. The school's first buildings were dedicated by Little Dan, a respected medicine man from Sweetwater, Arizona.

Originally, Red Mesa was part of a different school system, the Chinle Unified School District. However, in July 1983, the Red Mesa Unified School District was created. This new district took over the schools in the Red Mesa area. A few years later, in 1987, the school's gymnasium was finished. This gave students a great place for sports and other activities.

What Makes It Special?

Red Mesa High School has a unique feature: it operates its own FM radio station. The station is called KRMH and broadcasts on 89.7 FM. This gives students a chance to learn about radio and share news with their community.

Most of the students at Red Mesa High School are Native American. The school's sports teams are known as "The Redskins." This name is supported by many people in the local community.
