The Story of Red Rock Drinks
The Red Rock Company started in 1885. It was founded by Lee Hagan and G. T. Dodd in Atlanta, Georgia.
How Red Rock Started
G. T. Dodd first created ginger ale as the company's very first drink. This ginger ale quickly became very popular in the Southern parts of the U.S.
Growing Across the Country
By 1938, Red Rock was a big name in the world of fizzy drinks. They had a large network of 200 bottlers. These bottlers helped distribute their 12-ounce bottles all over the country. By 1947, you could find Red Rock products in 45 out of the 48 U.S. states!
A Famous Fan: Babe Ruth
Red Rock Cola even had a famous supporter! The legendary baseball player Babe Ruth endorsed the drink. Posters showing his support were printed in 1939.
When Things Changed
However, by 1958, the company's success began to slow down. After the 1950s, the Red Rock Company seemed to disappear. It's not clear exactly when the company stopped operating.
Red Rock Today
Even though the original company is gone, Red Rock drinks are still around!
Where Red Rock is Made Now
An associated company in the Dominican Republic kept making the product. Today, the Cervecería Nacional Dominicana distributes it there.
Who Owns the Recipes?
The original recipes for Red Rock's fizzy drinks still exist. These recipes are now owned by Sensient Technologies. This company is based in Indianapolis, Indiana. Sensient Technologies has its own network of distributors who help share the drinks.
