Redstar is a small place in Fayette County, West Virginia, United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own official local government, unlike a city or town.
Redstar is located about 2.5 miles (which is about 4 kilometers) south of a larger town called Oak Hill. For many years, Redstar had its own post office where people could send and receive mail. However, this post office closed on January 20, 2007. The name Redstar has been used for this community for a long time, at least since 1893.
Understanding Redstar's Climate
The weather in Redstar is generally mild. This means there aren't huge differences between the highest and lowest temperatures throughout the year. Also, there's enough rain all year round, which helps plants and trees grow.
What is a Marine West Coast Climate?
According to a system called the Köppen Climate Classification, Redstar has a type of weather known as a "marine west coast climate." On climate maps, this is often shown as "Cfb." This kind of climate is usually found on the western sides of continents. It means the summers are not too hot, and the winters are not too cold. The ocean helps keep the temperatures steady.
