Redwater is a special kind of community in Leake County, Mississippi, United States. It's called a census-designated place (CDP). This means it's an area that the government counts for the census, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.

Redwater is one of eight communities that are part of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians Reservation. A large part of the people living here, about 61%, are Choctaw. In 2020, 683 people lived in Redwater. This was more than the 633 people counted in 2010, and even more than the 409 people in 2000.

Where is Redwater Located?

Redwater is in the middle of Leake County. It's located at coordinates 32.777025 degrees North and -89.543724 degrees West.

Right next to Redwater, to the south, is the city of Carthage. Carthage is the main city for Leake County.

Roads and Rivers

Mississippi Highway 25 goes through Redwater. If you travel northeast on this highway, you'll reach Louisville in about 40 miles. If you go southwest, you'll get to Jackson, the state capital, in about 55 miles.

Another important road, Mississippi Highway 35, crosses Highway 25 in Redwater. Going north on Highway 35 leads to Kosciusko, about 20 miles away. If you head south through Carthage, you'll reach Interstate 20 near Forest in about 31 miles.

Redwater covers an area of about 10.5 square miles (27.3 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. A small part, about 0.17%, is water. Town Creek flows through the middle of Redwater. This creek is a smaller stream that eventually flows into the Pearl River.
