Redbird, Missouri facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Redbird is a small place in the southern part of Gasconade County, in the state of Missouri, United States. It's called an "unincorporated community" because it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town.

The Story of Redbird

Redbird got its unique name from its very first postmaster. A postmaster is the person in charge of a local post office. He chose "Redbird" because he thought it would be a simple name for everyone to remember and spell easily. Sometimes, people even called it "Red Bird" with two words.

Where is Redbird?

Redbird is located near some interesting natural features. It sits right on a small stream called Price Creek. Price Creek is a "tributary," which means it's a smaller stream that flows into a larger river. This creek flows into the Bourbeuse River, which is about half a mile southwest of Redbird.
