The first edition of Redemption

Redemption is a novel written by Leon Uris, first published in 1995. It is a follow-up story to his earlier big book from 1976, called Trinity.

What is Redemption About?

This novel mainly takes place in the early 1900s, leading up to a major historical event in Ireland known as the Easter Rising. The story follows the lives of the family members of Conor Larkin, who was an Irish rebel. These family members include his brothers, Liam and Dary, and Liam's son, Rory.

The Larkin Family's Story

After leaving Ireland, Liam travels all the way to New Zealand. There, he starts his own family. Interestingly, he seems to repeat the same kinds of disagreements and challenges with his own sons that his father, Tomas, had with him. It's like history repeating itself within the family!

Rory's Adventures

Liam's son, Rory, becomes a brave hero during World War I. He plays a special part in a famous battle called the Gallipoli campaign. This was a very important and tough part of the war.

Dary's Challenge

Rory's uncle, Dary, decides to become a Catholic priest. However, he faces a very personal struggle that makes him think deeply about his life choices and the path he has chosen.
