Regal, Missouri facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Regal is a small, unincorporated community located in the northeastern part of Ray County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.

This community is found where two Missouri roads, Route A and Route W, meet. It's about fifteen miles (or about 24 kilometers) northeast of a larger town called Richmond. A small waterway named Wakenda Creek flows about one mile (or 1.6 kilometers) to the southwest of Regal.

A Glimpse into Regal's Past

Regal has a short but interesting history, especially regarding its name and services.

Why the Name "Regal"?

The name "Regal" might sound grand, like something fit for a king or queen! However, the community was actually given this name because it was short and easy to remember. Sometimes, simple names are the best!

The Regal Post Office

For a few years, Regal had its very own post office. This post office opened in 1899. It was an important place where people could send and receive letters and packages. Having a post office often meant a community was growing and needed these services. However, the post office in Regal only stayed open for a short time, closing its doors in 1904. After that, people in Regal likely got their mail from a nearby town.
