Who Are Reggie 'n' Bollie?
Reggie Zippy's real name is Reginald Ainooson, and he was born on July 16, 1984. Bollie Babeface's real name is Ishmael Hamid, and he was born on July 2, 1986. The name "Bollie" is a fun way of saying "Best of Lyrical Lines in Entertainment."
Both Reggie and Bollie have been living in the UK with their families since 2010. Before they teamed up, they both had their own music careers. In 2006, Reggie released three songs called "Virgin," "4 Sale," and "Adoma." Bollie also had a popular song in 2004 called "You May Kiss the Bride," which is often played at weddings. Later, in 2017, they even got to be guest presenters for the CBBC music show, The Playlist.
Their Journey on The X Factor
In 2015, Reggie 'n' Bollie, who were then known as Menn on Poinnt, tried out for the twelfth season of The X Factor. They impressed the judges and made it through to the "judges' houses" stage. There, they were mentored by famous singer Cheryl Fernandez-Versini. Many people were surprised when Cheryl chose them to go through to the live shows!
During the live shows, Reggie 'n' Bollie were very popular. They were never in the bottom two or three contestants who faced elimination. This was a big achievement! They became the first duo to reach the live final of The X Factor since another group called Same Difference did it in 2007.
In the grand final, they performed with special guest artists Fuse ODG and Craig David. Even though they were amazing, they finished as runners-up, with Louisa Johnson winning the competition. After the show, Reggie 'n' Bollie joined The X Factor Live Tour in 2016, performing for fans all over the country.
Music After The X Factor
After The X Factor, Reggie 'n' Bollie signed a record deal with Syco Music on January 20, 2016. This is the record label owned by Simon Cowell, who is a famous judge from The X Factor.
They released their first single, "New Girl," on May 13, 2016. This song was quite successful and reached number 26 on the UK Singles Chart. However, their second single, "Link Up," released later that year, did not make it onto the music charts.
On February 1, 2017, Reggie 'n' Bollie announced that they had decided to leave Syco Music. They wanted to create their own independent record label, which they named F.R.O.D Music. This allowed them to have more control over their music. On December 15, 2017, they released their first album through their own label, called Uncommon Favours.
